Almost three months ago I took an unplanned sabbatical. Why? Well, for right now, let's just say for reasons too many and maybe too personal to list here.
However, while it has been a trying 3 months a lot of good has come from it.
Romans 8:28 says, And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Over the last 3 months, Lanette and I have seen God work good in the middle of what has been some very challenging and dark days. A lot has happened and I look forward to sharing pieces of it when it is appropriate. Just let me say for now that God is faithful and even when it seems he is silent it does not mean that he is not there.
One week from today I will return to my full duties as Lead Pastor of Atlee Community Church. I want to say thank you to all the staff who stepped up in my absence and have done an incredible job. I also want to say thanks to all who have supported Lanette and I with prayers, cards, gifts and words of encouragement. You will never know how much they have meant to us. We are really looking forward to returning and re-engaging with our church family.
Between now and next week Lanette and I are looking forward to two events. Tomorrow we leave for a Pastor/Wife conference called Re:Awaken in Anderson SC. On Friday we will leave Anderson and head to our favorite get away, the Outer Banks of NC, where we will celebrate our 29th Anniversary (a few weeks early).
Talk about a blessing - hard to believe Lanette has put up with me for 29 years. All I can say is God is good!
We are so glad that you and Lanette are healthy and ready for the next era of ministry as you lead and serve Atlee. Susan and I, along with the PCC family, are glad to count you as friends and kindred spirits between our families and our churches.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to hearing great things...
